I'm getting to be a bit of an expert on the local butterflies and found several new species for the reserve this year, as well as getting to see the tiny caterpillars of a new, undescribed species of metalmark being tended by ants for the honeydew they produce. The skippers do not generally get as much attention as the brightly-coloured metalmarks but this Two-barred Flasher
(Astraptes fulgerator) shows that this family can be just as attractive.
